Vehicles as a workplace: Work Health and Safety Guide

Saturday 18/5 2:20 pm - 2:50 pm
Event Type: Seminar/keynote presentation

Under the WHS legislation all vehicles used for work related travel are classed as workplaces when used for work purposes. This includes vans, utes, small trucks, lorries, conventional vehicles, motorbikes, etc. All vehicles, whether under the direct control of the organisation, leased vehicles, worker vehicles regardless of remuneration and client vehicles need to be considered.

From this session, attendees will:
• develop general understanding of the new Vehicles as a Workplace: Health and Safety Guide, its role, purpose and application
• understand WHS requirements for all motorised vehicles used for work-related travel
• receive practical guidance on integrating vehicle use into their WHS risk management system.

This session will incorporate a brief practical activity based on the draft case studies developed to support the Guide and will assist attendees to systematically apply the guide to all vehicles used for work purposes within their own organisation.
